My adoption practice concentrates on navigating adoptive parents tthrough the legal process. While much of my adoption work is on behalf of my client, Bethany Christian Services of Central Indiana, a licensed child placing agency (whom I have represented since 1984), and adoptive parents whose children have been placed through Bethany, a considerable amount of my practice deals with independent placements or adoption situations that do not involve a local placement agency. These situations include stepparent adoptions and adoptive placements through facilitators or mutual friends or acquaintances of the adoptive parents and the birth mother. Also, I have considerable experience in assisting persons who have adopted children in a foreign country and need to pursue an Indiana court's recognition of the foreign decree.
Being an attorney licensed to practice in the State of Indiana, I am permitted to appear in all courts in Indiana having jurisdiction over adoption matters. I am not restricted to Marion County with respect to my adoption practice. However, most of the adoption petitions I file, even those on behalf of Indiana residents who live in counties other than Marion, are filed with the Probate Court in Marion County. This court is in close proximity to me, is very familiar with my adoption practice, and, further, has jurisdiction over adoption petitions filed by any resident(s) of Indiana. We, of course, will discuss the appropriate venue for your adoption matter, taking into consideration all factors, including costs and convenience to you.
My objective is to provide you with excellent representation, to keep you informed during the entire process and to be responsive to your needs and questions. I look forward to meeting you.
